The space across the stars.

Updated: Sep 13, 2022

Lesson one: Space as support.

Community yoga Mangawhai

Developing a personal practice.

“Solitude is independence. It had been my wish and with the years I had attained it. It was cold. Oh, cold enough! But it was also still, wonderfully still and vast like the cold stillness of space in which the stars revolve.”

Hermann Hesse.

Tonight we are going to use the space as a tool, to support our practice, using it, to recognize our space “bow within the dojo” giving meaning to the place we are practising approaching our with respect and determination to our mats.

Reference

using the space as a reference, by recognizing a few points in our environment, the lines of the mat, a focus of a silhouette

on the wall, the marks of the sealing. we can use the space as an indication of where we are, the position ourselves between shapes; and overall use the floor to support our posture

Somatic space

the way out is the way in, we are going to explore the spaciousness inside us, the body as a container, the cylinder qualities of our rib cage, pelvis and brain, the volume of our breath, and the gaps between the breathing (kumbhaka)

Appreciation

And finally the space between our thoughts the emptiness within the frames of our mind and our emotions, Feeling the space across the stars.

Hope I can see you tonight at the Anglican Church in Mangawhai Village.

The class starts at 6:30 please arrive at least 5min before.

Entry is Koha (donation)
